HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FOOT CORRECTLY

Choosing the correct skate size is one of the most important aspects to ensure comfort, control and safety, both in roller skating and ice skating.
In this blog post
, we explain, in a simple yet professional way, how to correctly measure your foot following the official guidelines.

Why the right size is crucial

A skate of the correct size allows you to:

  • maintain correct posture

  • improve stability and control

  • avoid pain and blisters

  • correctly support the jumping and rotation technique

A skate that is too large can compromise performance and increase the risk of injury.

The tolerances recommended by Edea

  • Growing foot (children and teenagers): maximum +10 mm

  • Already formed foot (adults): maximum +5 mm

These tolerances serve to ensure comfort without losing precision and control.

What is needed for measurement

To measure your foot correctly you need:

  • an A4 sheet

  • a pencil or pen

  • a rigid ruler or measuring tape

  • a wall

How to measure your foot correctly

Place the A4 sheet on the floor, against the wall .

Place your foot on the sheet with your heel firmly supported and perpendicular to the wall .

Stand upright , distributing your weight on your foot.

Using the pencil, trace the outline of the foot, faithfully following its shape .

Repeat the operation for both feet .

It is important to follow the profile of the foot without tilting the pencil inward or outward.

How to measure foot length

Locate the longest toe , which may be the big toe or the second toe.

Using the ruler, measure the distance from the heel to the tip of the longest toe .

Draw a straight line between these two points.

Write down the measurement

If the measurements of the two feet are different, always use the one of the larger foot .

Calculating the final measurement

To the length of the foot add:

+10 mm if the foot is growing

+5 mm if the foot is already formed

The measurement obtained will be the one to use as a reference to identify the correct Edea skate number .
